About us

Wellpet is a small, family-run business, here to care for your family pets. We are proud of our reputation for providing the highest level of veterinary care for your pet.

The Practice was established at the Shenley site at least 60 years ago, it was taken over by husband and wife team Glen and Jo Foley in 1999. Since then investment in staff and equipment has grown the practice into what it is today. Family owned and run, we pride ourselves on being honest, fair and compassionate. Providing personal one-to-one care, we try to ensure YOUR vet is the one you see and trust.

Our Team
Dr Glen Foley
Practice Principal, MRCVS
Glen qualified from Glasgow University in 1990. He met Jo in his first job in Oxford, where she was doing her training to become a nurse. Having gained valuable experience in several different types of practices, they decided to buy their own surgeries in 1999. Glen enjoys every aspect of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in opthalmology and enjoys challenging surgical cases.
Glen lives in St Albans with Jo, their 2 daughters and Border Terrier Pixie and Jack Russel cross Ernie.
Jo Foley RVN
Practice Manager
Jo has been qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse since 1992. She has had many roles in the veterinary profession, including Head Nurse. A spell of locumming all over the country for a couple of years gave her an insight into how vets are run which was useful information when it came to taking on Wellpet! Jo now largely works as Practice Manager, but still likes to get her hands dirty on a regular basis, her favourite part of the job being surgical nursing.
Dr Naomi Hosker
Naomi graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and has been with Wellpet since December 2016. In her spare time Naomi competes with her dogs Skye and Raine in dog agility competitions all over the UK. She has many other pets including 15 guinea pigs and a tortoise.
RVN Head Nurse
Our headnurse here at Wellpet is Vicki! Vicki qualified in 2008 and has worked for Wellpet since 2013. She worked in practice after qualifying and then gained experience as a claims assessor, assessing claims for some well known pet insurance companies. It was here that Vicki has gained invaluable knowledge and is able to share this information with our clients to help them best choose the right insurance policies for their pets. Vicki has a rescue dog called Misty who suffers with allergic skin disease, which the vets at Wellpet help to treat. Vicki works between both surgeries so be sure to see her around!
RVN Deputy Head Nurse
Jane is our Deputy Head Nurse, she qualified back in 2005 after starting her nursing career in 2001. She has over 17years experience and has worked at a range of practices from hospitals to small individual clinics.
She has 2 young children, a husband and currently works part time. She has a cat, a crested Gecko and a rescue dog called Bonnie who you may see at the surgery.
In her spare time she loves riding her motorbike and spending time with her young family flying kites and going on walks.

Her main interests are photography, exploring the outdoors, and playing drums with her dad in jam nights.

She has 3 cats a Cavalier and a couple of rats. Her interests outside of work include horse ride and play lots of video games on her computer! Inside of work she will be involved in our new weight clinics and has a keen interest in theatre.
Joanne joined us in 2018 as a receptionist and quite quickly became one of our Student Veterinary Nurses. She has paused her studies for the moment as she is now off on maternity leave, we are hoping to have her back some time in 2020. At home she adores looking after her two Shih Tzu's Alfie and Sparky, and outside of work you may find her performing with vocal harmony vintage trio 'The Polka Dots'.

Becky is our newest Student Veterinary Nurse. She started her Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in April 2019, when she also started working at Wellpet which she is thoroughly enjoying. She loves all animals but has an especially soft spot for rabbits and guinea pigs after having her own over the years.
Christine has been with us for over thirteen years, working as a nurse until she had three months off earlier in the year. Then coming back to us as our receptionist in April.
In her spare time Christine likes travelling, socialising with friends. But most of all she loves being with her naughty tortie Truffle who was abandoned at wellpet 10 years ago with her brothers and sisters.
